About Us

Community Connect C.I.C. is working towards community inclusion for adults with a learning disability, through its program of stimulating activities. Forging links with local groups and organisations, taking part in various activities, learning new skills, socialise and connect with new and old friends.

Our Story

Gary Burton, Kathryn Atherton and Dianne Stalker built Community Connect over 12 months period with help from a Social Enterprise Exchange program. The three care experts all worked at Council-run Oaks Day Centre in Wath.  They were inspired to open the Community Connect CIC as a non-for-profit organisation and focus on providing outstanding care experiences after a number of day centres were closed in Rotherham.

Our Mission

We aim to provide meaningful activities , personalised to meet the individuals need, supporting people to live in the community.  Making a difference locally was the aim of the team and for us it’s been incredible to see the extended community support and the engagement of the service users.

Our Inspiration

No other organisation locally offers what we as a social enterprise will be doing. We want to give what the service user wants, giving them choice. We believe in giving everyone the opportunity to achieve their individual goals and empowerment. We do not think of it as work, it is what we enjoy doing and genuinely believe in and this now drives us on to create something different and special, for everyone to be proud of, not just the staff but also service users and families.

Our Team

Community Connect C.I.C. is run and established by three highly experienced carers, with decades of experience between them and strong passion to help community.
