Every Tuesday Kath and Dianne along with our service users run the Chit Chat Café at the High Street Centre, Rawmarsh Hill. The café provides work experience, builds self confidence and boosts self esteem. The café also acts as a community hub bringing together the community to socialise and combat isolation.
Our allotments continue to thrive, there are now three greenhouses and two large raised beds with easy wheelchair access from our new pathways. All our fruit and veg is homegrown from seed. We also have rescue chicken and ducks in their own secure pen.
A key feature for Community Connect CIC that everyone is proud of is our large sensory garden, which has been developed over the last three years from waste land kindly given to us by Wath rugby club. There is a woodworking shed, large polytunnel, large wooden gazebo, a specially created seaside area, sensory plants and numerous sensory and reminiscing items. There is also a pets corner with rescue rabbits and guinea pigs.
We are always busy among the many other activities that we do include;
- Swimming group every Monday
- Baking session on Wednesday
- Seasonal arts and crafts
- Health and beauty therapy
- Community litter picking group
- We are also members of the Kings Crown Green Bowling Club
- Community Connect are also on the Wath Events Committee, giving us a say in community events.
At Community Connect CIC everyone has a say in our activities, giving empowerment to our service users. They make the decisions along with staff, and their families and carers to provide activities and projects in a safe secure environment that everyone agrees is very homely and friendly setting.
